I am really glad that after a long gap of 5 years All India Sports Goods Manufacturer Federation is going to release their Member's Directory. More surprisingly but surely this is the first time when this directory is being released with help of & no expenses are being debited to Federation account in this regard. I personally feel pleasure to congratulate office bearer & the whole executive body of the Federation & supporters, workers. For uplifting the status of our Federation Nation wide. In the last two years physically & financially. Which resulted in minimizing expenditure of Federation on the other hand. |

Sports Goods In Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) |

|
Meerut is one of the important industrial towns of the western Uttar Pradesh. It is situated about 85 KMs from Delhi. Sports industries are mainly concentrate at the two locations, Meerut & Jalandhar, in India. These industries came into existence mainly after partition, when number some families belonging to Sialkot (presently in West Pakistan) migrated &settled in Meerut & Jalandhar. These families having sufficient knowledge of manufacturing of sports items started units to meet the local requirement. Some of these units, by virtue of their long experience in the field, have built up a good brand name of their products, thereby getting orders from domestic market as well as from other countries.
Presently out of the total sports industries business, 60% is shared by jalandhar units, 20% by Meerut units and remaining 20% by other units spread all over India. These Meerut units mainly use the Road transport, as the facilities offered by Railways are not attractive in terms of time and money.
To assist & promote the Sports Industries, UPSIDC, an UP
Stage Govt. Undertaking, allotted the land to some units at Delhi – Meerut
Road & developed a SPORT COMPLEX in Meerut, Presently there are 23 units
located out of which 15 units are manufacturing sports items. In and
around 20 k.m. radius of Meerut city approximately another 1000 tiny units
are located in villages namely Abdullahpur, Jangethi, Mukampur, Naibasti,
Malayana & Daurala etc. These units provide an employment to approximately
12000 people. The units manufacturing Sports goods are pollution free
except the units involved in leather tanning. Support Institutions. The
Ministry of Industries, Govt. of India also came forward to assist &
promote the Industries and accordingly a PRODUCT CUM PROCESS DEVELOPMENT
CENTRE (PPDC) under the Development commissioner, Department of SSI & ARI,
Ministry of Industry was setup to provide Testing, Training & Job work
facilities to sports units Presently there are two association viz. ALL
INDIA SPORTS GOODS MANUFACTURING FEDERATION having 230 member / units &
INDIAN INDUSTRIES ASSOCIATION having only 15 member unit from sports
category. These associations provide the business related al information
to their member units and arrange meeting of their members at regular
intervals to discuss various issues relating to these units. Regarding
availability of financial assistance / services prominent banks namely
Punjab National Bank, Bank of India, State Bank of India and State Bank of
Bikaner & Jaipur have their branches in Meerut city. The other State Govt.
Financial Institution namely PIC – UP,UPFC are also having their offices
in the city. |
